Valton Murray is a self-taught artist living and working near Thomson, Georgia. His paintings are inspired by childhood memories of rural life — barns, family gatherings, children at play, and the beauty of the Southern landscape as he remembers it.

Growing up in Mesena, Georgia, Valton developed a natural gift for storytelling through color and movement. His bright, expressive palettes capture everyday moments with warmth, nostalgia, and joy.

His work has been exhibited widely throughout Georgia and nationally, including at The Kennedy Center, and featured in the House of Blues Collection. In 2004, he was selected by VSA to participate in its international festival and exhibition.

Despite early challenges with epilepsy and polio, Valton found lifelong success and expression through painting — creating work that feels honest, joyful, and deeply human.
